What we know so far about the Hillwood Estate in East Perth

Perth is home to a handful of unique houses, many of which have been built to withstand the punishing conditions of the Australian summer.

But the hillwood estate is one of the few in Western Australia that has never seen the dreaded summer heat.

The Hillwood is a six-storey detached house with a spectacular view of the city.

The house sits on a large plot of land at the corner of East Perth Road and Main Street, and has been used by many locals and business owners since the 1950s.

The property was built in 1958 and has had two owners.

It was acquired by John Hillwood, who built the first house in the area, in 1969.

“It’s one of those properties that we’re still working on because we’ve had people come up to me over the years and say, ‘What’s it like to live in the house?

What’s it been like?’,” Hillwood said.

The owner of the house, who asked not to be named, is the only person in the world to have built the house himself.

“When I first saw the property, it was a bit of a shock because it was so new, and then we found out there was two people who had built it.”

We’ve been working on it ever since, and we’ve got lots of things to do.

“John Hillwood built the Hill, which he named Hillwood House after his late wife.”

I had always wanted to live there because it’s in the middle of the Hill and it’s close to the river,” Hill said.”

There’s a lot of views out to the city, and I just love the view.

“The house has been the centre of an online community since the late 1980s, with visitors from around the world sharing photos of the property.”

You have people coming in to say hello, you have people stopping by to say, what are you doing?

“Hill said, explaining how the property has been home to so many visitors.”

They’re all coming in and asking, ‘How are you?

What are you up to?’

“The property is now one of a handful that have never had the summer heat, which means it’s been insulated.”

Mr Hillwood says the community has welcomed the change in the weather, despite the harsh conditions.

“The people that live here, the families, they love it.

They love the fact that we’ve never had it,” he said.

In 2018, Mr Hillwood sold the Hill to a builder and plans to rebuild it.
